"Source last scraped" is when our pipeline last pulled that state's portal successfully (a stale stamp means the portal was unreachable and we kept the last good copy). "Newest notice on file" is the most recent notice date the state has published — many states post in batches, so a date a week or two old is normal. Both are also in data/coverage.json.

Sources behind their usual cadence (9)

We compute this on every refresh instead of hiding it behind an "updated today" stamp: a state whose newest notice is older than its expected posting cadence (60 days; Texas 75, Mississippi 120) is listed here with what we know about why. Machine-readable: data/stale.json.

North Dakota2026-01-15238North Dakota publishes every WARN notice it has received since 2015 in one compiled PDF on jobsnd.com and adds to it as notices arrive; we re-read that file daily. The agency prints no closure/layoff type, so that column is blank for North Dakota, and it sometimes lists a nationwide or out-of-state employer with only the North Dakota headcount, which we keep as printed. Dates are published exactly as the agency printed them, including its own evident typos.
Kansas2026-05-01132agency portal checked by hand on 2026-09-07: nothing newer published
Mississippi2026-05-11122Mississippi publishes WARN notices as quarterly PDFs, so the newest quarter appears only after the agency posts it.
Minnesota2026-06-1587Minnesota publishes one PDF a month covering every layoff its Rapid Response team worked on, and marks which of them were WARN Act filings; we keep only the rows the state marks as WARN. The agency's web pages block automated readers, so we discover each month's report filename from public Internet Archive captures of mn.gov and then read the PDF from the agency's own server — which means a Minnesota notice usually appears here 4–8 weeks after it was filed, and the year-end compilation sometimes reprints a notice without its received date, which we leave blank rather than guess.
Vermont2026-06-1785agency portal checked by hand on 2026-09-07: nothing newer published
New Mexico2026-06-2973agency portal checked by hand on 2026-09-07: nothing newer published
Nevada2026-06-2973Nevada's agency (DETR) blocks automated readers on both its WARN page and its PDFs, so we read the annual 'WARN and Non-WARN Master' lists it publishes from public Internet Archive captures instead — a Nevada notice appears here only after the Archive next crawls the file, typically weeks to a few months after filing. From 2023 the list also records non-WARN layoffs and we keep only rows the state marks WARN; 2017–2022 lists carry no such flag and are published as filed. The 2021 list is a scanned image with no text layer, so 2021 is a gap. Headcounts the state prints as NR or Unknown are left blank.

Not covered (5 states): Arkansas — agency site blocks automated access, Massachusetts — agency site blocks automated access, Missouri — agency site blocks automated access, New Hampshire — agency site blocks automated access, Wyoming — WARN filings are non-public by state statute. We do not guess or backfill these from third parties; a state is added the day it publishes a usable public listing.
